Volume 4 of Character Defamation Magazine is all about celebrating authenticity, artistry, and the voices shaping the culture. This edition is about hope—showing that we can achieve anything we set our minds to. It’s about second chances, growth, and proving that hard work and passion can take us anywhere. Among the game-changers featured is Fresco Trey, an artist whose raw storytelling and unique sound set him apart.
Fresco Trey: More Than Music
Fresco Trey isn’t just an artist—he’s a storyteller, a visionary, and someone who keeps it real. From his pet peeves to his passion for music, he shares insights on what drives him and what it takes to make it in the industry.
What Does Character Defamation Mean to You?
“I feel like character defamation is when someone tries to blemish another person’s image—spreading lies, tarnishing their name. It’s evil and disgusting.”
Biggest Pet Peeve?
“I think my biggest pet peeves are smacking while you eat and snoring when you sleep. I hate that sh*t.”
What Do You Listen to When You Want to Feel Confident?
“Confident? I ain’t gonna lie, I’d probably throw on some Bruno Mars. He makes me feel like the flyest n*gga in the world. So yeah, Bruno. Shoutout to Big B, mehn.”
First Advice for Aspiring Artists?
“Find a way to have some money because it’s not cheap. It’s super expensive to make it in the music industry. If you gotta work a 9 to 5, go make some bread somewhere else—don’t be ashamed of that. Being a creative in any lane is the same way, but don’t let your ego and pride stop you from funding your career. When the money comes, it’s good, but it takes a lot to get there. So I’d say, make sure you have an income.”
Something About You People Don’t Know?
“Most people know I like to play basketball outside of music. I’m independent, I run my own record label—Fresco The Label. It gives that ‘ding ding ding’ behind it. Also, I got a strong love for kids.”
Favorite Song You’ve Ever Made?
“My favorite song I’ve ever made is Fresh Off A Heartbreak. Just like the title says, I was fresh off a heartbreak. I was going through a rough spot, making a lot of sad songs. That was my first time tapping into that side, seeing if we were lit or just keeping ourselves down. That’s probably my favorite song—I had fun making it.”
From heartbreak to confidence, from hustle to independence, Fresco Trey keeps it real. And that’s why he’s one to watch.
